Are We Normal? Funny True Stories From an Everyday Family edition by Christina Scalise Humor Entertainment eBooks

I laughed the first time I sat down to enjoy my morning non-fiction read with "Are We Normal: Funny, True Stories From an Everyday Family", which is a great sign when the book has funny in the title. It's a big claim, and I don't believe it until I've laughed a few times.

If the title included all of the adjectives I would give to it, it would read, "Are We Normal: Funny, True, Touching, Wise, Loving Stories from a Humble Everyday Family". Growing up in their house sounds like something most of us would sign up for.

A favorite story for me is "The Ten-Year Plan for Vehicles". The punch line was so funny I had to read the story out loud. I also loved "Apples", "Toilet Paper", and the pet stories. Bobber, one of their beloved pet cats, was a riot. We can all empathize for what it feels like when we've lost a family member, as they did with Bobber.

I sincerely hope that Christine Scalise writes more humor stories. I'm waiting.

Are We Normal? Funny True Stories From an Everyday Family edition by Christina Scalise Humor Entertainment eBooks Reviews

Christina's book is filled with everyday dealing with the family/children stories that always start off like something you'll immediately recognize and then shifts to the funny. A lot of her humor seems like great parenting tricks too - like keeping the kids from bothering after a certain time of night by telling them it better be "Blood or fire" that inspired the interruption. Like
*Knock knock*
Parents "Blood or Fire?"
Kid "Um... nevermind..."
Brilliant!
There is a little something for everybody here in this collection of different stories and funny observations. I guarantee anyone who reads this will say "My ______ says that too!" That's what makes these stories better is that they are relatable on top of being very funny. This book is for anybody who has ever thought their family was crazy.... so that means it's for everybody. This is a great sunny afternoon read or a great gift for a family member too.
This book was WONDERFUL - touches on so many wonderful things. Loved it. I give it 5 stars.
I'm 80 years old & from my perspective, the situations were very much like windows into our own kid-rearing years. Precious stuff. .
ARE WE NORMAL IS HILARIOUS. I HAD BEEN LOOKING FOR THISBOOK FOR QUITE A WHILE FOR IT IN PAPERBACK CHRISTINA SCALISE IS SUCH A HILARIOUS LADY. THE NEW BOOTS STORY WAS HILARIOUS. SO WERE ALL THE OTHER STORIES I LOVED THIS HILARIOUS I LOVED THIS BOOK AND YOU WILL TOO BUY IT AND READ IT YOU WILL LOVE IT.
Everyone thinks their family is crazy; at least this book lays it out in a humorous way. As aggravating and annoying daily things like laundry and even holidays can be, I love hearing it from someone else’s perspective. Family life can be filled with drama, sometimes you just have to take a step back and laugh about it all. Christina Scalise jokes about all the things everyone is thinking but doesn’t want to say. I would recommend this book to any one, it’s an easy read and you’ll really enjoy it.
A lot of these little slice of life stories are amusing and downright hilarious especially if you have the attitude it’s better to laugh than cry.
With my three year old child, I recently had to buy her a winter coat, by the time we were done I had probably lost a fair bit of my rapidly thinning hair. Reading about Christine Scalise adventure with boot shopping, a few days later, I was able to begin seeing the humour in the situation and look back with not a fond smile, but at least without a frown.
I particularly liked the cat stories. Of course I’m biased having three cats of my own, but I was literally laughing out loud several times, much to the annoyance of my wife.
This book is a bit like exchanging parenting stories with a friend. It was done with a good sense of humour, a bit of wit, and a touch of exasperation at some of the problems that arise.
It’s not for everyone though. If you don’t like listening to parenting stories or if you prefer things to be a bit more serious, this isn’t for you. For me however, it’s 5 stars.
